LONDON, Jan. 22 (UPI) —
A 6-year-old girl lost her ear while she was being mauled by a dog in London, officials said.
The girl’s father had to punch the dog, a black-and-white bull terrier, several times to get it to release his daughter, The Daily Telegraph reported.
After the attack Saturday, the girl, whose name was not reported, underwent plastic surgery because her ear was severed by the unprovoked dog.
The owner of the dog, a 56-year-old man, turned himself in to the Chingford police station Saturday and was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control.
During the attack, the dog owner allegedly criticized the girl’s parents for allowing their children to be out of control.
The dad said he punched the dog in the head and kept punching it until it let go, and the owner had said, ‘Can’t you keep your kids under control?’ said Terence Lundy, 70, who witnessed the incident.
